Statmetrics is a free cross-platform software application providing an interactive environment for computational finance. Statmetrics can be used in diverse fields to perform econometric analysis, technical analysis, risk management, portfolio management and asset allocation.
What is the license for Statmetrics?
Statmetrics and all contributed files hosted on Statmetrics.org are licensed under the proprietary (closed source) license.
How to install and run the Statmetrics on any platform?
- Download the latest Statmetrics version from http://www.statmetrics.org download area.
- Expand the .zip. Any program that can handle zip files should work.
- You need a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) to run Statmetrics.
- Open the folder “Statmetrics” and run the command: “java -Xmx1024M -jar Statmetrics.jar“
How do I increase the heap size available to Statmetrics?
Some Java Runtime Environments (JRE) put restrictions on the total amount of memory available on the heap. If you are getting OutOfMemoryErrors while running Statmetrics, the VM can be told to let the heap grow to a larger amount by passing the “-Xmx” command to the Statmetrics launcher. For example, the following command would run Statmetrics with a heap size of 1024MB: “java -Xmx1024M -jar Statmetrics.jar“.
Where can I get the Statmetrics source code?
The Statmetrics is a closed source application and the source code is not shared with the public.
How do I report a bug?
The easiest way to contribute back to the community is to report bugs. If you encounter problems with Statmetrics, or want to suggest a way to enhance it, make your way over to http://bugtracker.statmetrics.org/. You will need to create an account before entering a report, but anyone can browse the existing bug database without registering.
Can I be an alpha or beta tester?
Yes, that’s essentially what you’re doing when you use our beta release software and send in bug reports.

Sorry, but we’re mainly set up to distribute information through our Web site (Statmetrics.org). We want to get as much information out and available as possible, but we can only handle the volume via these customer-initiated mechanisms.
